The bulk SMS price in Bangladesh depends mainly on four things: whether you use masking or non-masking, how many parts each message uses, how much you send, and your route and operator mix. On GotiSMS, indicative rates start from ৳0.18–0.25 per non-masking SMS and ৳0.40–0.60 per masking SMS. But the number that really matters is your cost per campaign, and that is easy to estimate once you understand how SMS is counted.
What are the current GotiSMS indicative prices?
| Service | Indicative price per SMS | Minimum | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Non-masking SMS | from ৳0.18–0.25 | 10,000 SMS | Default sender included on every account |
| Masking SMS | from ৳0.40–0.60 | 20,000 SMS | Sender ID approval required |
| Enterprise / API | Custom | By agreement | For high-volume and integrated senders |
Final rates depend on your traffic, route and operator mix. For the latest details, see the pricing page or contact us.
Factor 1: Masking or non-masking
Masking SMS shows your brand name as the sender (up to 11 letters) and is routed through the recipient's own operator. Each sender ID needs approval. It costs more per SMS, but it builds trust and recognition.
Non-masking SMS comes from a regular number, works on every network and needs no sender approval. It is the lower-cost option.
Many businesses mix both: masking for OTP, orders and promotions, non-masking for internal or very high-volume messages. Read Masking vs Non-Masking SMS to decide.
Factor 2: Message length and parts
You are billed per SMS part (segment), not per message. This is the factor people most often overlook.
- English (GSM-7): up to 160 characters is 1 part. Longer messages use parts of 153 characters.
- Bangla or any emoji (Unicode): up to 70 characters is 1 part. Longer messages use parts of 67 characters.
So a 120-character English message is one part, but the same length in Bangla is two parts, and costs twice as much for every recipient. A single emoji in an English message also switches it to Unicode and can double the cost. The GotiSMS compose screen counts characters and parts live, so you see this before you send. Full details are in Bangla SMS character limits explained.
Factor 3: Volume
Larger volumes generally earn better rates, which is why the price ranges above have minimums and why enterprise and API customers get custom pricing. If you send regularly, estimate your monthly volume and ask for a quote.
Factor 4: Route and operator mix
The mix of Grameenphone, Robi, Airtel, Banglalink and Teletalk numbers in your list, and the route used to reach them, also affects the final rate. This is especially relevant for masking, which goes through each recipient's own operator.
How do you estimate the cost of a campaign?
Use this simple formula:
Cost = Recipients × Parts per message × Rate per SMS
- Count the recipients in your list.
- Check how many parts your message uses in the compose screen.
- Multiply by your rate per SMS.
Example calculation
The table below is an example only. It uses an assumed rate of ৳0.20 for non-masking and ৳0.50 for masking, chosen from within the indicative ranges, and a list of 10,000 recipients. Your actual rate will depend on your account.
| Scenario (example) | Sender | Parts | SMS billed | Example rate | Example cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Short English offer, 130 characters | Non-masking | 1 | 10,000 | ৳0.20 | ৳2,000 |
| Same offer with one emoji (Unicode) | Non-masking | 2 | 20,000 | ৳0.20 | ৳4,000 |
| Bangla offer, 120 characters | Non-masking | 2 | 20,000 | ৳0.20 | ৳4,000 |
| Short English offer, 130 characters | Masking | 1 | 10,000 | ৳0.50 | ৳5,000 |
| Bangla offer, 190 characters | Masking | 3 | 30,000 | ৳0.50 | ৳15,000 |
Two lessons stand out. First, message length can matter as much as the sender type. Second, trimming a Bangla message from three parts to two, or removing an unnecessary emoji, can save a large share of the budget.
How do you lower your bulk SMS cost?
- Keep messages within one part where possible: 160 English or 70 Bangla characters.
- Remove emoji and special punctuation from English messages, unless they truly add value.
- Clean your list. Remove duplicates, wrong numbers and customers who opted out.
- Segment. Send each offer only to the customers it fits.
- Use non-masking where branding is not needed, such as staff alerts.
- Plan volume. Buying for your expected monthly usage can unlock better rates.
- Use templates for messages you have already optimised for length.
How does payment work?
GotiSMS uses a prepaid wallet in Bangladeshi Taka. Top up online with bKash, or by bank transfer, cash or manual Send Money with proof of payment that staff verify. Each SMS part is deducted when sent. In the SMS API, money values are returned as strings in poisha, so "40" means ৳0.40.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest bulk SMS option in Bangladesh?
Non-masking SMS is the lower-cost option, from ৳0.18–0.25 per SMS on GotiSMS with a minimum of 10,000 SMS. Keeping messages to one part keeps costs lowest.
Why does a Bangla SMS cost more?
It does not cost more per part, but it uses more parts. A Bangla SMS fits 70 characters per single part, compared with 160 in English, so longer Bangla messages are billed as more SMS.
Is masking SMS worth the higher price?
For customer-facing messages like OTP, orders and promotions, many businesses find a recognisable brand name worth it. For internal alerts, non-masking is usually enough.
Are there hidden fees?
You pay per SMS part from your prepaid wallet. Final rates depend on traffic, route and operator mix, so ask for a quote if you send large volumes.
How can I get custom pricing?
Enterprise and API customers can get custom pricing. Contact the team through the contact page or support@gotisms.com.
